Hi all!
This is just a quick note to say thank you to you readers and for forwarding my articles or the blog page to your friends and family.
This blog has been a fun distraction from the pandemic, with the added benefit of me learning from your comments, suggestions, and feedback. So many thanks to you all.
You can tell I'm new to blogging because I'm excited by the little things... and the thing that tickles me the most is the geographic diversity of you readers. Here's a global map that Wix provides showing where approximately each of the most recent readers linked from - I think it is the last 100 reads. I added the red text to emphasize a few locations:
I certainly don't know anybody in Tanzania, Australia, Spain, or Costa Rica (actually I don't know anyone in most of the places pinned on the map). In previous weeks I saw readers from France, Germany, Italy, Israel, Scotland, Pakistan, etc. Of course these could be bots, but Wix assures us that they have filtered those out. Riiiight.... But if you know that some of those far-flung locations are from you forwarding this blog to your friends there, let me know so I can thank you personally.
How about zooming into North America and seeing where you readers, or those you have forwarded this blog to, are located:
That's a pretty nice vertical spread from Costa Rica to Kamloops, British Columbia in Canada. Hey, if any of you know people down in South America, could you, y'know, send my articles to your buddies down there? ;)
There was a cluster of readers in California, so I zoomed in there as well:
On the opposite coast is a pretty strong concentration because my family and friends are mostly there:
If you couldn't tell, I live in New England, so let's zoom into where we are here:
I don't want to leave out the middle of the US as we have a couple regular readers there (and I was born in the midwest and spent the early part of my engineering career there):
My mom used to live in Texas so I think I can thank her for forwarding my blog to her friends down there... thanks mom!
And there is a cluster in Japan as well where I have a college buddy and some of mom's family:
Anyways, that's it - I just wanted to say thank you for reading and especially many thanks for forwarding the articles on to others.
When you do forward these to friends, please tell them to subscribe and to feel free to get back to me with comments and suggestions. That's been an unexpected source of enjoyment with this blog... hearing from you readers.
I'm still working on the next couple articles on the origin of life - which is far outside of my normal range of reading, but I am loving it.
So 'til then...!
Best regards,
Science Duuude
